Last but not least I would like to remember our troops and their families during this season.I know all too well as a former military dependent what it's like to be without a loved one at Christmas.I would like to extend my best wishes and prayers to my friend Suezette and her family!She has sent her husband a mini tree with the decorations for him to put up and wrapped all his supplies toothpaste,chocolates,food etc up so he has something to unwrap on Christmas!

It's that time of the year again and it can be really hectic.One of the best part about preparing for Christmas is decorating the tree.I use to love doing DIY projects with the kids when they were younger.I was searching for decorating ideas and ran across these really neat DIY crafts for kids and thought I would share.

Let's talk fabrics!Wednesday I had the pleasure of joining my first every Tweetchat !(Twitter Party)  I didn't realize what fun I was missing out on!!Cozy Up To Fall was the theme with Annie Selke Co and ABCD design. The ladies were a blast and so friendly.As I was trying to keep up with the feed lol I saw a lot of talk of many types of fabrics.It got me wondering how many different types of fabrics are there?What are they made of?Lets start with Natural fibers:Cotton which is a plant fiber,Linen which is also a plant fiber but different from cotton in that the individual plant fibers which make up the yarn are long where cotton fibers are short,silk which is a protein fiber and Wool which is also a protein fiber. Fashion and Decor a great partnership!!

Fashion and Decor makes sense right?In the fashion world there's all different types of  textures,layers and color that is used just like in a room design.Fashion and design do influence each other . Textiles cross the boundaries from fashion to design. The same new patterns and materials might look just as good on a dress as on a sofa.The fashion world also changes with the seasons, and interior decor has followed suit. People who love decorating change accessories in their spaces with the seasons, using different window dressings, pillows and throws to switch up the look of the space, from summer to winter. Some people even redesign a room yearly with the latest trends, the way you might buy hip accessories for a chic new outfit.The trend of big names from fashion moving into the decor market is another indication of this. Armani and Ralph Lauren just to name a few have products lines that translate their core style from clothing to the home.I found a great  article on a blog that covers how fashion trends influence the interior industry Hannah In The House so basically inspiration and influence come from both fashion or decor!!According too Gretchen Aubuchon, founder and editor in chief of Fashion + Decor,the trends to go from runway to home are stripes,denim ,orange,florals and garden party.You can read more about it at High Point Market.Here's another article I found that reveals the top 10 fashion colors for 2013 PANTONE.I personally love blue so I'm all about the Monaco Blue and Dusk Blue.

It's official summer is gone.It makes me sad because I'm very much a warm weather girl.I'm very inspired by summer ,the beach and the fun it brings.I love the color palettes you can pull from the beach.There are different types of Coastal styles but they all have the basic elements such as natural materials,lots of natural light,warm whites,ocean hues,slipcovered furniture and nautical decor.

It's that time of the year again.Fall is upon us and the kids are back in school.It's back to regular bed times,homework, making lunches and shopping for the class list of crazy things they will need .I don't remember my school list involving hand sanitizer and quart size baggies but then It's been a while sense first grade. There are ways to make a small space pop and yet still feel warm and cozy.

Colors:

Keep color schemes simple --- light and bright, or high contrasts are the main rules of thumb. Black and white or white and any other bold color work well. Keep the majority light-colored with hints of whatever bold hue you choose, be it black, navy, burgundy,turquoise etc..White walls and furniture with black and white patterned accessories such as throw pillows and lamp shades are great examples of this.
The light and bright idea is similar, keeping the main color light, such as a pure white, with bright colors all around or neutrals for a crisp fresh feel.

Develop a floor plan

A floor plan is your roadmap to success. Don’t be scared and think architects-only. You can do this. A floor plan is simply a measured drawing of the space in 1/4 scale that allows you to play with furniture size and placement.
