Luxury on the sea
Recently I had the privileged of going to the Bahamas for free on a 120ft yacht, thanks to my daughter and her boyfriend who by the way was the captain of the vessel. My daughter works on a 83ft yacht as a stewardess/ deck hand. She loves her job and I don't blame her, it's definitely not the normal 9-5 grind. It requires long hours and hard work but the rewards are breath taking and who wouldn't want to live the life of luxury and travel. I was able to see the yacht my daughter worked on and I was amazed at how luxurious the smaller one was and how they designed the inside to function so well for such a smaller space compared to the 120ft. That being said, I would take the 83ft yacht any day if given to me. I cant disclose the name of the yacht or show full length shots of the vessel out of respect for the privacy of the owners, but I can share some pictures I took of the inside. What I can tell you is when I walked in the yachts I was taken back. This is definitely a field I would love to work in if only I knew how to break into it. I did learn a few things by checking everything out on the yachts. Even large yachts have limited space so it is important to remember to utilize everything you can, to provide functionality as well as decor. Whoever designed both spaces most definitely did that. You also would have to use fabrics, carpet etc... that works well with the environment, such as wind and salt air. So it would be essential to get the right materials(top quality) to cut back on the wear and tear plus easy maintenance. My overall experience was awesome and I felt like I was in a 5 star resort I felt very comfortable and relaxed.

SWOON Worthy
Hi everyone! As I mentioned in my last blog when I went to HPMKT in the spring I did more of the educational side but I did get to squeeze some swoon in. +CRLaine was hot as always, I just love their showroom. They also throw awesome parties! You always run into the best people there as well. I stopped in at many showrooms such as Global Views, THIBAUT, Cyan, Glassisimo, John Strauss, Codarus, Worlds Away and soooo....... many more. What I did notice was a lot of metallic finishes, brass, bold patterns, rich bright colors, corals, aqua's, shades of yellow, grey , and jewel tones. I also saw a lot of well as described by a friend "Chinoiserie" if that's a word lol I loved the Asian inspired decor, pillows and fabrics I saw. I also noticed fabric on buffets, desk and other pieces you would not expect to find it on. It was all breath taking and I only wish I could of taken in more showrooms. Hopefully in spring 2015 I will. I'm sharing some pics I took hope you enjoy. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!

High Point Market Spring 2014 Brain overload
Happy Monday!! It has been so busy sense I returned from +High Point Market I'm just now writing about it. This year I did several things different. I teamed up with some great designers and rented a house which was so much cheaper and loads of fun. Thank you Rach of +CMYfabriK Interior Design ,Alison of ACR Interiors , and Jana of Jana Donohoe Designs. The 2nd thing I did different was focus more on the educational side of high point. I ran from one seminar to the next. The very first one was at Lexington "Destination Design" with +Tobi Fairley with special guest Krissa Rossbund from #traditionalhomemagazine.
After that we hit the ground running from one building to the next. There were so many seminars that really gave you some great information such as the Design Tech Summit-Building a bridge between design & technology by bringing the hottest tools for design professionals under one roof with +Dana Helms ,Michael Garrett,Ross Barlett,Deb Barrett. So many notes and so much to intake it was great!
It was great running into +Olivia Millwood of Niche by design
I also attended the Designer Viewpoint Series. My favorite one was with +Michelle Jennings Wiebe, ASID "Set Yourself Apart from the Crowd!-Essential Secrets for Every Designer" She was so informative and I think its great that she was willing to share free information that you can actual put to practice. As a newbie just starting out this seminar was so helpful.
I attended many more and have a ton of notes that I'm going through. This +High Point Market was totally different then my first in 2013, I didn't get to see all the showrooms I wanted to but it was worth it. Thanks for stopping by hope everyone has a great week.
